The Pro-Life Party Isn’t So Pro-Life

On March 23, President Trump signed the $1.3 trillion omnibus bill into law after threatening to veto it because it failed to address the fate of dreamers and did not fully fund his border wall. The GOP bill also provided $500 million to Planned Parenthood.

Since 1973, the year Roe v. Wade passed, Republicans have controlled both houses of Congress 8 times! The “pro-life” party has done very little to overturn Roe v. Wade, and every Republican controlled House has provided funding for Planned Parenthood. It seems the “pro-life” party is only pro-life at election time. After that, they cave into special interests.

Trump also ran as a pro-life candidate. He stated in a Republican nominee debate from February 2016 in Houston, TX that he would defund Planned Parenthood because of the abortions they perform. Yet, this very bill that he had the power to veto provides $500 million to the organization. Even Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist in Dallas, defended Trump’s signing of the bill on Breitbart Radio. No doubt, had President Obama signed the same bill, Jeffress would be outraged.

The establishment runs deep in DC, and until we completely overhaul the two party rule in Washington, it will always be more of the same.
